Joan Roig is an architect since 1981, graduating from the Barcelona School of Architecture, ETSAB. In the same year, he partnered with Enric Batlle Durany to establish Batlleiroig.

Since then, he has undertaken numerous projects in the fields of construction, landscaping, and urban planning, always approaching them from the perspective of landscape and nature. He is dedicated to environmental sustainability and actively seeks solutions to address the climate emergency facing our planet.

His leadership at Batlleiroig has garnered the highest recognition in Spain for an architectural firm: the CSCAE 2017 Medal awarded by the Superior Council of Architects of Spain. The jury commended Batlleiroig as "a prominent architectural studio renowned for its quality, professional rigor, and wellstructured and solvent business operation. Their collaborative, global philosophy focuses on process control and utilizes cutting-edge technologies while always respecting the core values of our discipline."

Joan Roig has taught Architectural Projects at the Barcelona School of Architecture, as well as in the Master's program in Landscape Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the Barcelona School of Agricultural Engineering (ESAB). Additionally, he has served as a guest lecturer at numerous international universities and held the position of director at the Barcelona Institute of Architecture (BIArch).

His remarkable contributions extend to his role as a jury member in both national and international competitions, such as Europan, the Spanish Biennial of Architecture, and the European Biennial of Landscape. He has also provided consulting expertise, serving as the Cultural Delegate of the Barcelona Division of the Official College of Architects of Catalonia, a consultant for the Mixta collection published by Editorial Gustavo Gili, and a member of the Architecture Commission of the Barcelona City Council.

In the realm of publishing, his accomplishments include the publication of the book "Nuevos puentes" (New Bridges) by GG, as well as numerous opinion articles in specialized magazines, including El Croquis, Arquitectura Viva, Topos, Cuadernos, Domus, and others.
